A little behind the scenes of what I’ve been experimenting with lately.

I’ve been working with recycled materials — including Styrofoam from my local grocer, cardboard from Amazon boxes, and of course my staple: locally sourced driftwood.

My little boy was helping me in the studio, and I was so proud to hear him say that we were using materials most people would normally throw away. He loved the idea that we could turn them into something beautiful instead.

After layers of paint, texture, and sparkle, these discarded materials become playful sculptural elements — like the earrings shown here.

A small creative experiment in turning everyday waste into wearable art ♻️

What a wonderful weekend creating one-of-a-kind bag charms with so many lovely guests at the Crafternoon Lounge at the National Home Show — meeting new faces and making new friends along the way. Thanks to the generosity of our guests’ donations, we also raised a wonderful amount for the @childrensmiraclenetwork.

It was also a treat to explore the incredible spaces designed by Director @thetiffanypratt — beautifully painted shipping container-style rooms in @sherwinwilliams colours, each thoughtfully styled inside by different businesses like @bettencourtmanor. And @kateaustindesigns. And a big thank you to the @homeshowsto team for being so professional and welcoming throughout the weekend.

We look forward to doing it again next Saturday from 11 AM–2 PM.

In light of everything unfolding in Iran, this feels like an important time to revisit stories that offer deeper perspective.

The Lion Women of Tehran by @marjankamali7 follows the lifelong friendship of two girls growing up in Tehran, whose bond is shaped and tested by class differences, political upheaval, love, betrayal, and the shifting roles of women in Iran. It’s a deeply emotional story about loyalty, resilience, and how the choices we make ripple across decades.

Set against the backdrop of rising religious leadership and dramatic political change, the novel quietly shows how shifts in power reshape everyday freedoms — especially for women.

It’s beautifully written, deeply moving, and one I highly recommend. If you’re trying to better understand the roots of where Iran stands today, this feels like a meaningful place to start.

Created using materials from my personal bead collection, including semi-precious stones, pearls, vintage pendants, driftwood, recycled glass, and other collected treasures. I always keep sustainability in mind when designing, thoughtfully incorporating reclaimed and repurposed elements wherever possible.

Select brooches will soon be available at @blossomandtempest …a beautifully curated, softly celestial space with an elevated, free-spirited aesthetic. Additional pieces will be available in my Etsy shop.
